COLLABORATORS

They are recognized as a pillar for the company’s business. Because of this, it is the company’s priority to offer optimal labour conditions to its workers, with above-average industry standards. A testament to this are the stable and quality work positions that Lota Protein makes available, being included twice in the ranking of best mid-sized business to work at in Chile, by the Great Place to Work survey.

ENVIRONMENT

The fishing business has associated effects, as any other industry does. In Lota Protein’s case, the external impacts are associated with the odour production, water treatment and general residues. The company is constantly working to mitigate this impact, being respectful of the environment in which it operates and keeping the quality of life of neighbors and workers unaffected.

SUPPLIERS

Suppliers to Lota Protein are mostly local fishermen and small to mid-sized businesses. Because of this, the company materializes its social responsibility in a fair commercial relationship with them, contributing to their financial stability.

An example of this is Lota Protein’s commitment to payments under 30 days, and weekly payments in the case of independent artisanal fishermen. This practice granted Lota Protein a Sello Pro Pyme certification by the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, becoming the first Chilean fishery to be granted this certification.

The company considers itself a corporate neighbor, and a responsible actor in the district of Lota, being participative in local development and holding dialogue with its environment. Lota Protein maintains permanent contact with its neighbors and a collaboration policy with several social organizations.
